Karlovasi wins 2017 Manihi Classic Listed April 1 $100,000 at Morphettville Parks (SA), 1100m.
In a crowded finish, with many chances across the track at the 50m, Karlovasi kept his nose in front with several bearing down on him late to score his sixth win and maiden stakes win. He settled fifth, one off the fence, moved three wide to be handy approaching the last corner, grabbed a narrow lead inside the 200m and although being swamped managed to hold off several late charges at the post for a tenacious win.
Viddora ranged up very wide near the last corner, took a few strides to balance then ran on very strongly within the shadows of the post, just failing to catch the winner.
Karacatis (rails) was handy behind the pace then into the straight was blocked for a run, got out too late but flew between runners to be a very close third, while Silent Whisper was well back turning in, went wide and flew late into fourth, also very close up.
