Candika wins 2017 Mandate Princess Stakes Listed $100,000 at Doomben (QLD), 1600m.
Favourite Candika got away well from the inside barrier but several on her outer rushed forward and she settled fifth at the 1200m. She moved closer near the home turn and stalked the leader, who ran out leaving a lovely gap to run through and she went past quickly then raced away to win easily by more than three lengths, her fifth win first stakes win.
Prada Miss was back, ran up and followed the winner into the straight then ran on best of the rest but never looked like catching the winner.
Benfica Princess led into the straight, drifted out then held on gamely yet well back in a dead-heat for third with Siren's Fury, who was last at the 600m, ran widest and flashed into the dead-heat late.
