Religify wins 2017 G’coast Prime Minister’s Cup Listed $100,000 at Gold Coast (QLD), 1400m.
With a good fresh-up record, The Chris Waller trained Religify was installed as the favourite and just got home in a thrilling finish. Under Hugh Bowman, from barrier five, he began smartly and took up a lovely spot in second on the fence. They turned for home in third, one out, and went after the leader, taking until the 50m to level up then lunging just short of the post to grab a thrilling win.
Siegfried ran up to challenge the pacemaker inside the 500m, took over turning in and went for home. He looked like the winner from the 300m but was nailed in the last few strides to lose narrowly.
Federal was well back turning for home and ran on strongly between runners to grab third late from Lucky Tom, the leader into the straight who battled away to hold fourth.
