Good Standing wins 2017 Suez Queensland Day Stakes Listed $100,000 at Doomben (QLD), 1350m.
Good Standing showed too much class and had the race in safe keeping a long way out. He broke well from barrier eight to land handy but three wide early. Rider Damian Browne eased him slightly to be one out and one back soon after. Near the last corner Browne shot him forward, three wide to challenge and inside the 200m took over. From there he gave nothing else a chance and ran away to score easily.
Midfield to the 400m, Sylpheed tracked the winner into the straight, took a while to balance then rattled home late to grab a solid second.
I'm A Ripper led to the 300m, was overhauled by the winner but kept up a good gallop to the line for third while Crack Me Up was locked away on the fence turning in, was bumped when challenging and flew into fourth very late.
