Supply And Demand wins 2017 The Pump House Caloundra Cup Listed $175,000 at Sunshine Coast (QLD), 2400m.
Consistent Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained stayer Supply And Demand was smartly away and soon crossed to the lead, travelling along nicely a reasonable tempo. He lifted the pace from the 600m, held a good break on straightening and was not threatened from that point to score a very good win.
My Diamantine had a good trip in sixth place until nearing the home turn and made late ground for a good second, without really looking likely to trouble the winner.
War Baby was a handy fourth, went to second on passing the 800m and then held on quite well to take the minor placing.
The favourite Self Sense disappointed. Winner of the Ipswich Cup (Listed, 2150m) last start, Self Sense was back in ninth place but was under pressure at the 600m and failed to run on, finishing (12 lengths) 11th.
