Pure Pride wins 2017 Paris Lane Hcp Listed $120,000 at Flemington (VIC), 1400m.
After racing quite well in stakes class previously, the Murray Johnson-trained mare Pure Pride was rewarded this Listed race, her second win in 16 starts to date. Having her third run this preparation, she settled in third last place in the 11-horse field, improved well behind runners on straightening, got a split at the 200m, dashed clear shortly afterwards and then went on to score impressively.
New Zealand-bred mare Wyndspelle settled in last place, went deep from the 400m and ran on well in the centre of the track for a late closing second in a promising effort at her third Australian start.
Saint Valorem was seventh to the home turn, angled deeper and into clear running at the 300m and then kept fighting on nicely to take third.
