Snitzepeg wins 2017 Gothic Stakes Listed $120000 at Caulfield (VIC), 1400m.
Snitzepeg made it back-to-back Listed wins and win three from ten starts with a clear-cut victory here. Under Craig Williams he began smartly to be second, camping a length from the leader one off the fence when they settled.
He moved up to challenge near the last corner but took until the 200m to level up then gradually pulled clear to win going away at the wire and secure a convincing win.
Lord Sundowner sped to the lead soon after the start and by two lengths down the side, still led turning in but was overtaken inside the 200m then held on well from Wassergeist, who lay a close fourth (rails) around the last corner, got clear at the 100m and ran on for third without any chance of catching the first two.
