Blondie wins 2017 William Crockett Stakes Listed $120,000 at Moonee Valley (VIC), 1200m.
Speedy filly Blondie appreciated the return to 1200m and bounced back to form by taking out her first stakes race in seven starts here. She was quickly away from her inside barrier (one), went straight to the front. She was pressured from the 600m but got a break on turning for home and then fought back well to score by a long neck and in good time (1:10.10).
Tarcoola Spirit raced in sixth place on the rails, got through to fourth nearing the home turn and came with a late run to take a good second.
Godolphin-raced filly Demerara, favourite after winning at her first three starts, was quickly away and soon crossed to race outside the leader (Blondie). She challenged from the 600m, but was under riding at the home turn and then kept fighting on for a close-up third.
