Zuccheros wins 2017 Carbine Club Of W.A. Stakes Listed $100,000 at Ascot (WA), 1400m.
Eight-year-old gelding Zuccheros won his first race in over 12 months when taking out his first stakes race at his 46th start. He settled back in seventh place, behind a good pace, before fanning deep shortly after straightening. He then came with a welltimed run by William Pike to take the lead at the 50m and then went on to win well.
Django raced in fifth place, one off the rails. He moved up to challenge at the 100m and then battled on nicely for second.
Properantes had a good trip from his inside barrier (1) racing in third place on the rails. He moved up to challenge on straightening then battled on to take the minor placing after seeming to have had every chance.
