Excelleration wins 2018 Harcourts Dunedin Guineas Listed NZ$50,000 at Wingatui (NZ), 1500m.
Excelleration made it three wins on end and back-to-back stakes with another convincing win here. Under Samantha Collett, Excelleration began well but drifted soon after to settle fourth last (wide) past the 1000m.
Collett let out the reins at the 800m and they improved (still wide) to be handier, continuing to gather in the leaders and challenged for the lead (widest) into the straight. She balanced, Collett gave her a shake and she strode to the lead and had the race in safe keeping at the 200m to score win four from eight starts by a length and three quarters.
Global Thinking had one behind her at the 600m, tracked the winner into the straight, was squeezed but then got clear to run on quite well without looking like catching Excelleration.
Czechoslavakia shot to the front turning for home but was overtaken easily and battled on for third from Kiwi Ida who passed a few to plug into fourth.
