Fiesta wins 2018 Widden Stakes Group 3 $150,000 at Rosehill (NSW), 1100m.
After promising placings at her first two starts, the Chris Waller-trained filly Fiesta resumed and (racing in blinkers for the first time) scored a smart win here.
She raced in seventh place (between runners), got to fifth at the home turn but was blocked until gaining a split at the 200m. She then sprinted quickly, hit the front at the 150m before going on to win well.
Gerald Ryan-trained/Arrowfield Stud-raced filly Adamina ran a bold race on debut. After a smart beginning she went to the front and then fought back particularly well when challenged in the straight to finish (neck) second in a most promising effort.
Jason Coyletrained filly River Bird raced in eighth place on the rails, got along the inner from the 300m and kept battling on nicely to take the minor placing.
