Luckless import Bauer has been sensationally backed to win the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Flemington tomorrow.

After opening at $3.20 with TAB Sportsbet , the lightly raced 9-year-old is now $2.00 and by far the most popular runner on Stakes Day.
The biggest bet with TAB Sportsbet has been $20,000 at $2.20 on top of a long list of four-figure bets.
“Not many people missed his eye-catching run in the Geelong Cup and the fact it was taking ground off Dunaden,†said TAB SPortsbet’s Matt Jenkins.
Sahara Sun, also a Luca Cumani stayer, is the only other runner backed in the race with a place bet of $10,000 at $8.15.
Sportingbet Australia punters also think that Bauer will get a consolation for missing a Melbourne Cup start with early bets on the grey including one of $50,000 at $2.30.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said the Luca Cumani trained galloper would have been well backed if he had of gained a start on Tuesday.
“Bauer was well backed in the Cup in all markets and I’m sure he would have attracted plenty of bets on Tuesday,†said Sullivan.
“He’s the best backed runner for Saturday’s meeting and punters clearly feel he’ll be going home with a nice consolation prize.â€

On the Black Caviar front the great mare is at $1.05 to win her 16th successive race in the G1 Patinack Farm Classic after a $100,000 bet at $1.07 was taken by TAB Sportsbet.
