Parker Pair Deserve A Win

3 minute read

Trainer Kerry Parker is hopeful his “professional placegetters” Monsieur Marceau and Sherwoods Choice can finally break their run of minor placings at Goulburn today.

Monsieur Marceau lines up in the Power Of Destiny Benchmark 60 (2100m) and Sherwoods Choice the Roadhog@Carrington Park Benchmark 60 (1400m).

The six-year-old Monsieur Marceau has had 10 starts since joining Parker's stables and has registered five seconds and a third but is yet to win for the Kembla Grange trainer.

“There's no doubt he should have won one by now,” Parker said.

“He just keeps running honest races but finds one better.

“He deserves to break through although from the wide barrier he's going to need some luck.”

Monsieur Marceau has drawn barrier 15 and will be ridden by Jay Ford.

Sherwoods Choice has recorded four wins and 18 placings from 43 starts. In nine runs this preparation the son of Marwina has produced seven placings.

“He's a place bet special,” Parker suggested.

“While it's frustrating he's not winning, he's earning prizemoney. He's the sort of horse that puts himself into a race and gives his all.”

Sherwoods Choice was a last start third to Core Purpose and Mossamine over 1550m at Canterbury on May 23.

Three starts back the gelding was beaten a head and nose when third to Lay Down Sally in a similar event at Goulburn on April 29.

Robbie Brewer partners the gelding.
