Boom import Glencadam Gold has moved closer to a start in the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups with his Newcastle Cup victory earning him a 1.5kg penalty.
It puts him up to 51.5kg and takes him from 67th to 52nd in the Caulfield Cup order of entry and from 113th to 57th in the Melbourne Cup order.
Naturalism Stakes winner Folding Gear has also received a Caulfield Cup penalty of one kilogram taking him to 52kg.
Folding Gear is not in the Melbourne Cup and his Naturalism victory gained him an automatic start at Caulfield.
The Gai Waterhouse-trained Glencadam Gold, winner of two races in England, maintained his unbeaten Australian record when he took out the G3 Newcastle Cup (2300m) last Thursday.
"Glencadam Gold is a progressive stayer who is now unbeaten in three Australian starts," Racing Victoria's chief handicapper Greg Carpenter said.
"His win in the Premier's Cup prior to the weights being released has been enhanced by the subsequent form of Stout Hearted and he was able to carry top weight, lead and dictate the speed in the Newcastle Cup when winning easily.
"Folding Gear has an outstanding record at Caulfield having won the Group Two Autumn Classic as a three-year-old, the Group Three Easter Cup as a four-year-old and now the Group Three Naturalism Stakes as a five-year-old against a very competitive field."
Glencadam Gold is expected to have his next start in the G1 Metropolitan (2400m) at Randwick on Saturday week where he will be liable to another Cups penalty should he win.
Last year's Newcastle Cup winner Green Moon went on to finish second in the Caulfield Cup, won by Southern Speed.
