What Price Waterhouse To Win The Program?

The TAB should be offering a special price about how many races Gai Waterhouse will win at Rosehill on Saturday.

Waterhouse has five favourites in early markets headed by her champion mare More Joyous at unbackable odds of $1.04 to win the Golden Pendant.

Fat Al (Shannon Stakes) and Strawberry Boy (Colin Stephen Quality) are both odds on favourites for their races while Kabayan will battle for favouritism at short odds with Albrecht in the Stan Fox Stakes.

Promising filly Urban Groove has been heavily backed to win the Reginald Allen Quality and is expected to start a firm favourite while Wyong Cup winner Julienas is rated the biggest danger to Strawberry Boy as second favourite in the Colin Stephen.

Her other runners Tohunga (Go The Swannies) and Under The Sun (The Iconic Race) are also pressing for favouritism.

It is beyond most expectations to think that Waterhouse could win all eight races but given the form of her runners and the quality of their opposition it is not unreasonable to think she is set for her best ever day as a trainer.

Waterhouse's best training performance was at Warwick Farm on New Year's Day in 2001 when she won five races including the Tattersall's Club Cup with Fuego Bravo.

Her other winners that day were Time Out, Primrose Sands, Miss Bussell and Kingsgate.

If she can train six winners on Saturday she will not only set a personal best but equal her late father Tommy Smith's feat of winning six of the eight races at Randwick in July of 1972.

The TAB is offering a special bet for punters including More Joyous, Pierro and Fat Al all to win their respective races at $1.68.

However punters would be much better entertained if the TAB offered odds about Waterhouse winning four, five, six or more races.
