Beirne Finds Value In Sydney Cup

Betfair's renowned form guru Dominic Beirne believes the marketplace has overreacted to the last start win of Sydney Cup favourite Kelinni and is poor value in Saturday's Randwick feature.

“Whilst Kelinni was impressive last week and he is deserving of favouritism on Saturday, I think his price has tumbled exaggeratedly,” Beirne said in his Betfair weekly preview.

“The conditions were markedly different - a heavy track, 2000 metres and weaker opposition than tomorrow.

“Similarly I believe Maluckyday has also been over found in markets. This horse has recorded two placings from 13 starts in the 30 months since his wonderful effort to be runner-up in the Melbourne Cup.”

Beirne has identified last year's Sydney Cup winner Niwot and Mourayan as runners who represent excellent, having assessed each horses at much shorter quotes than the $15.50 and $18 they were trading at on Betfair on Friday.

In the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Beirne expects a another big win for Triple Crown winner It's A Dundeel.

“It's A Dundeel will be cherry ripe and run up to its recent performances and in this scenario the three-year-old will win by about four lengths," Beirne said.

Beirne also believes champion mare More Joyous is highly vulnerable in her clash with the three-year-olds All Too Hard and Epaulette in the All Aged Stakes.
