The first signs of the upcoming spring carnival look set to emerge on Friday with a host of Group 1 performed gallopers put through their paces during 17 barrier trial heats at Randwick.
Gai Waterhouse will saddle up a large contingent of runners at Randwick on Friday spearheaded by a host of Cups contenders.
Heats commence at 8.15am with a 1400m Open Trial on the course proper made up of 10 runners including boom imports Carlton House, Michelangelo and 2012 Metropolitan winner Glencadam Gold.
Stablemate and 2012 Melbourne Cup runner up Fiorente is down to run in Heat 3, a 1200m Open trial.
The other heat conducted on the course proper includes multiple Group 1 winning sprinter Hay List who was last seen when a shadow of his best behind Black Caviar in the TJ Smith.
John McNair's stable star will trial over 800m as he is readied for a first up tilt at the Missile Stakes (1100m) on August 10.
Gai Waterhouse runners feature prominently throughout the 17 heats conducted at Randwick on Friday where a number of up and coming types will trial.
Breeders Plate placegetter War will trial over 1050m while the winner of that race Whittington contests a later 1050m heat.
Other stakes performed two-year-olds on show at Warwick Farm this Friday include Anthony Cummings-trained Canonbury Stakes winner Never Can Tell and Peter Snowden's Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes' winner Montsegur.
