Bohemian Lily is one of a big group of spring contenders stepping out the barrier trials and has drawn in one of the hottest heats of the morning.

She will trial over 1250 metres alongside Godolphin big guns Contributer and Hartnell, Victoria Derby winner Preferment and John Thompson’s good galloper Hooked.

Bohemian Lily emerged as a spring contender at the Brisbane winter carnival winning the Gold Coast Bracelet before a four-length romp in the Doomben Roses.

The former New Zealand mare was ruled out of the Queensland Oaks by injury but Waterhouse has set her sights on the Caulfield Cup, believing the race suits Bohemian Lily’s racing style.

The mare trialled well at her first hitout of the spring running second to stablemate Cosmic Endeavour in a Randwick trial on August 10.

The TAB has Bohemian Lily a $51 chance for both the Caulfield and Melbourne cups and $71 for the Cox Plate.

John O’Shea will trial Contributer and Hartnell for the second time this spring and both caught the eye in their first hitouts at Randwick on August 10, Contributer running fourth to Flamboyant Lass and Hartnell second to Vashka.

Both have big assignments this spring with Contributer an $11 co-favourite for the Cox Plate and Hartnell a $16 second favourite for the Melbourne Cup.

Waterhouse’s new stable recruit Arabian Gold is drawn in a 1250 metre trial with stablemate Ecuador, cups hope Who Shot Thebarman, O’Shea’s Complacent and Noel Mayfield-Smith’s Famous Seamus.

O’Shea is heavily represented in the feature 850 metre trial with seven of the 10 entrants including ATC Derby runner-up Hauraki, Randwick Guineas runner-up Sweynesse, Kindergarten Stakes winner Furnaces, Holler and Sarajevo.

Waterhouse provides the other three runners in Golden Slipper runner-up English, Frespanol and Ondina.

English is also entered for a 1050 metre trial with promising stablemate Sempre Libera.
