Queensland Oaks winner Winx has drawn wide in gate 11 for her resuming run in Saturday’s Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill.
The mare had also been nominated for the Sheraco Stakes on the Rosehill program but trainer Chris Waller has elected to take on the open age sprinters with James McDonald booked for the ride.
Winx is one of three runners for Waller in the field of 14 plus one emergency, joining Strawberry Boy, who drew gate five for Jim Cassidy, and Heart Testa from barrier nine for Jason Collett.
Group 1 winner Famous Seamus has the topweight of 59kg under the quality handicap conditions and will be ridden by Kathy O’Hara but drew wide in gate 14.
Team Hawkes have three acceptors and all drew close to the fence with Ninth Legion in one, Messene two and Nostradamus four.
Queen of the Turf Stakes winner Amanpour resumes for Gai Waterhouse and has gate eight for Brett Prebble while Brenton Avdulla rides Aomen for Anthony Cummings from gate three.
Joao Moreira will ride John O’Shea’s lone runner Vashka, which drew gate six.
Decision Time drew 10 for Christian Reith, Boss Lane 12 for Sam Clipperton and Sons of John seven under Jeff Penza.
Melbourne mare Vezalay is an early scratching, instead running at Saturday’s Flemington program.
