Magic Hurricane came up with gate one in the field of 15 for the $750,000 handicap.

James McDonald will ride Magic Hurricane, one of two Godolphin runners, with Joao Moreira aboard stablemate Havana Cooler, who drew gate 11.

Chris Waller has five Metropolitan acceptances and had mixed fortunes at the barrier draw, with recent Newcastle and Wyong cups winner Beyond Thankful drawing the extreme outside gate for Hugh Bowman while Hawkspur (Jim Cassidy) drew alongside.

Waller also has Beaten Up (Glyn Schofield) from two, Junoob (Opie Bosson) from three and last year’s winner Opinion (Tye Angland) from gate 10.

Gai Waterhouse’s sole runner Bonfire drew 12 and will be ridden by Blake Shinn.

Three Victorian trained runners will take their place in the field including David Hayes and Tom Dabernig’s Almoonqith drawing 13 for Michael Walker.

Other southern raiders are Robert Hickmott’s Chance To Dance (Craig Williams) from gate five and Ciaron Maher’s Kapour from nine.

Newcastle and Wyong Cup placegetter Orbec has gate four under Zac Purton while Jason Collett rides Maurus for David Vandyke from gate eight.

Disclaimer from six and Ghost Protocol (Thomas Huet) from seven round out the field.

Magic Hurricane remains the favourite after the draw with TAB final field fixed odd betting at $4.

Almoonqith is the second elect at $6 with Beaten Up and Chance To Dance both $8.

Beyond Thankful and Orbec share the $11 line with Junoob, Bonfire, Maurus and Havana Cooler all at $15.

Opinion and Kapour are both $26 chances with Hawkspur and Ghost Protocol at $51 and Disclaimer the $101 outsider.
