Having his second start in Australia, English-trained stayer A Prince Of Arran put up a solid staying performance in winning here, gaining a start in Tuesday's Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) in the process. He raced in fifth place, moved up well rounding the home turn, raced to the front nearing the 200m and then fought back gamely when challenged to score well. The Chris Waller-trained Brimham Rocks raced in seventh place (one off the rails), tracked the eventual winner from the home turn, challenged at the 200m and then battled really well for a good second, his eighth placing in as many starts since coming to Australia. Jaameh had a nice trip in fourth place on the rails, got a split at the 200m and then battled on to take third, just in front of Gallic Chieftain who was eighth at the 800m, improved (deep) coming to the home turn and the fought on for (2.5 lengths) fourth.
