Tahitian Dancer provided former sire Dawn Approach with his 11th stakes winner, when she won Nudgee Stakes at Eagle Farm.
In winning Saturday's Nudgee Stakes (Listed, 1200m) at Eagle Farm 4-year-old mare Tahitian Dancer provided former Darley shuttle sire Dawn Approach (New Approach) with his 11th stakes winner.
Trained by Shane Nichols, Tahitian Dancer defeated Multaja (Medaglia d'Oro) by a short-head with Epic Girl (Shamus Award) the same distance back in third. She will now head towards the Magic Millions Fillies & Mares (1300m) at the Gold Coast on 11 January.
"She is in Queensland for the Magic Millions races and you are always best off against your own sex," Nichols said.
"I know even after all the scratchings she had a bad barrier, but I knew she would be running on.
"There is no reason why she can't give the Magic Millions a real shake, especially if they run along like they did today."
An $80,000 purchase by Hillside Downs from the Willow Park Stud draft at the 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Tahitian Dancer has now won 5 times and placed a further 2 times in 16 starts for prize money of almost $350,000.
She is the first foal out of Listed winner Takanori (Vital Equine) and her third dam is Dance Attendance (What A Guest), dam of Group winners Alma's Fury (Refuse To Bend) and Enforced (Snippets). Willow Park Stud will offer Tahitian Dancer's Lonhro (Octagonal) half-brother as Lot 841 at next month's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
Dawn Approach's fee at Darley's Kildangan Stud in Ireland is advertised at €10,000 in 2020.
