Jyoti wins Gold Sovereign at Launceston.

The Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained Jyoti (2 f ex She Can Skate by Bradbury's Luck) won Wednesday's Gold Sovereign (Listed, 1220m) at Launceston to provide the now Swettenham Stud-based sire Akeed Mofeed (Dubawi) with his second stakes winner. 

Ridden by Jamie Kah, Jyoti scored by a neck from Gee Gee Josie (Wordsmith) with the same distance back to the Lindsay Park-trained Avenue Of Pleasure (I Am Invincible) in third. 

A winner on debut over 1050 metres on December 28 before finishing second to Mileva (Headwater) at Murray Bridge three weeks later, Jyoti is the second foal out of the Listed winner She Can Skate (Bradbury's Luck) whose first foal to race, Sheriff's Way (Akeed Mofeed), is a winner. Her second dam is Caniona (Canny Lad) who is herself a daughter of the Listed winner Catriona (Bellotto), while this is also is also the family of multiple stakes winner Graceful Anna (Canny Lad). 

She Can Stake was bought for $210,000 by Goldin Farms at the 2015 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale and was then was sold again at the 2019 sale and bought for $45,000 by Colm Santry Bloodstock. She was covered by No Nay Never (Scat Daddy) last November having foaled a filly by Caravaggio (Scat Daddy). 

Having begun his stud career at Goldin Farms in South Australia, Akeed Mofeed relocated to Swettenham Stud last year where his 2019 fee was set at $15,000 (plus GST). He has seven lots catalogued for the forthcoming Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale. 

Jyoti's More Than Ready (Southern Halo) half-brother meanwhile is catalogued as Lot 88 for the forthcoming Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale from the draft of Goldin Farms.
