Group 1 placed colt Soul Patch (Shamus Award) will stand at Rangal Park Stud in Victoria in 2020 for a fee of $8,800 (inc GST).

The Ken Keys-trained son of Shamus Award (Snitzel) was retired from racing last month after sustaining a significant tendon injury in the Australian Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m), when he ran third behind Alligator Blood (All Too Hard).

Soul Patch won his only start at two, a maiden over 1200 metres, and then won twice at three, headlined by victory in the Moonee Valley Vase (Gr 2, 2050m). He also placed in both the Victoria Derby (Gr 1, 2500m) and Australian Guineas and retired from racing with earnings of over $600,000 during his eight race career.

Bought for $45,000 by Keys at the 2018 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale, Soul Patch is out of the winning Flying Spur (Danehill) mare God Bless Us. His second dam is the Group 2 placed mare Holy Bounty (Don't Say Halo) who is a half-sister to Group 1 winner Ellicorsam (Fimiston) who in turn produced Ellicazoom (Testa Rossa) and El Doute (Redoute's Choice).
