Street Boss (Street Cry) sired his second consecutive winner of the Merson Cooper Stakes (Listed, 1000m) as the James Cummings-trained Anamoe (2 c ex Anamato by Redoute's Choice) followed up Hanseatic’s victory of 12 months ago and in the process handed the stallion with this 41st stakes winner.

The colt came into the race having finished fifth in the Debutant Stakes (Listed, 1000m) and the colt lunged late to collar Forbes (Capitalist) in the shadow of the winning post, eventually beating him by a nose, while the The Art Of Flying (Flying Artie) was another two and three-quarter lengths away in third.

Cummings said the colt had improved since his debut and was happy to see him break his maiden on Saturday.

"As far as our two-year-olds are concerned, this guy from his first start has probably improved the most and it was nice to see that performance from him today,” said Cummings.

"He's come on really well in the coat and not only that he's grown a bit physically and got a bit more strength there between runs. Nice performance.”

The colt out of SAJC Australasian Oaks (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Anamato (Redoute’s Choice), whose three winners are headed by Irish Listed winner Anamba (Shamardal).

Anamato herself is a half-sister to 1996 Oakleigh Plate (Gr 1, 1100m) winner Drum (Marauding) and also hails from the same family as Group 1 winners Grand Armee (Hennessy), Yourdeel (Dundeel) and Dealer Principal (Flying Spur).

Last season Anamato produced a colt by Darley-based sire Shooting To Win (Northern Meteor) and after missing to Kermadec last season, she has most recently been covered by shuttler Blue Point (Shamardal).

Street Boss is standing at Northwood Park in Victoria for a fee of $27,500 (inc GST).
