Group 1 winning daughter of Lope De Vega sells for €2.05 million at Arqana
Group 1 winner Sweet Lady (Lope De Vega) is destined for the US after being purchased by Claiborne Farm for €2.05 million during the opening session of the Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale on Saturday.
Trained by Francis Graffard, like the sale topping filly Malavath (Mehmas), Sweet Lady has raced 15 times for six wins and two placings with her biggest win coming in the Group 1 Prix Vermeille (2400m) at Longchamp on September 11. The daughter of Lope De Vega (Shamardal) is out of the dual Listed winner High Heel Sneakers (Dansili) who has also produced the stakes winning filly Toujours L'Amour (Authorized). Further back this is the family of US Grade 1 winners Cheif's Crown, Classic Crown, Sightseek and Tates Creek.
"I've been looking for mares with good performances and good pedigrees, said Bernie Sams of Claiborne Farm.
"She's a beautiful filly and these opportunities don't come around very often. She'll go to England where my client already has some of their mares at stud."
Sweet Lady was bought by Paul Nataf for €100,000 at the 2019 Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale and her prize money earnings total almost €600,000.
