The partners in Bloomsbury Stud have decided to disperse the successful English breeding nbursery after 45 years.
Lady Tavistock Henrietta Bedford and her son Andrew Bedford have made the decision to cease running the stud at Woburn in Bedfordshire.
Henrietta Bedford is now a New Zealand resident and her son does not have the time to give the stud his full commitment.
The stud property will be offered for lease but the Bloomsbury name will be retained by the family.The stud will in future be known as Woburn Stud or a namje selected by the future lessee.
The dispersal sale will take place at Newmarlket with Tattersalls offering yearlings, mares and foals at the December Sales.
The 16 mares include G2 winner Danceabout, in foal to Oasis Dream.
Other mares are in foal to Azamour, Cape Cross, Exceed And Excel, Hernando, High Chaparral, Medicean, Myboycharlie, Naaqoos, Nayef, Oasis Dream, Sinndar, Tiger Hill and Verglas.
The 10 yearlings by Act One, Cape Cross, Dubai Destination, Medicean, Nayef, Notnowcato, Oasis Dream and Rock of Gibraltar and there are 12 foals by Cape Cross, Dalakhani, Halling, King's Best, Kyllachy, Medicean, Nayef, Oasis Dream, Pivotal, Sakhee's Secret, Singspiel and Verglas.
Among the winners bred or sold by Bloomsbury Stud has a proud record of raising or selling stakeswinners including the likes of Bluebook, Danceabout, Jupiter Island, Krayyan, Law Lord, Myself, Perfect Stride, Pole Position, Pushy, Precocious, Rainbow Dancing, Soviet Flash and Thrilling Day.
They all descend from Mrs Moss, purchased by Henrietta Bedford at Tattersalls in 1975 for 2100 guineas.
Bloomsbury Stud New Zealand had a dispersal sale in 2007 when Group winner Tavistock and Precedence and their dams were sold.
