Coolmore shuttler Holy Roman Emperor has finished 2011 as Europe's champion sire of two-year-olds with progeny earnings of £891,923.
Among his flagbearers were the Aidan O'Brien-trained Homecoming Queen (Holy Roman Emperor x Lagrion, by Diesis), a runaway winner of the Listed Lanwades Stud and Staffordstown Stakes at the Curragh.
My Propeller (Holy Roman Emperor xIncise, by Dr Fong), trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam for Joey Barton, won the Listed Julia Graves Roses Stakes at York's Ebor meeting while An Ghalanta (Holy Roman Emperor x Alamanta, by Ali-Royal) was a Listed winner at the Listed Curragh Stakes
His other star two-year-olds included the Andrew Balding-trained Charles The Great (Holy Roman Emperor x Jojeema, by Barathea), winner of the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury, and the Brian Meehan-trained Mehdi (Holy Roman Emperor x College Fund Girl, by Kahyasi) who won the Tattersalls Millions Auction Stakes at Newmarket.
It was also a good year for Holy Roman Emperor three-year-olds, led by Banimpire (Holy Roman Emperor x My Renee, by Kris S) who was saddled by Jim Bolger to win the G2 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot and finish runner-up in the G1 Irish Oaks.
She was subsequently sold for €2.3 million at the Goffs November Sale.
