Jean-Luc Lagardere and the Aga Khan, giants of European breeding, both played their part in the evolution of thriving import Manighar as a Group One star in Australia.

Manighar was bred by the Aga Khan, but only after he purchased the grey's dam from Lagardere while she was carrying the Australian Cup and Ranvet Stakes winner.
Manighar, by Linamix, was being carried by his dam Mintly Fresh when she formed part of the complete purchase of Lagadere's breeding stock by the Aga Khan in 2005.
Linamix, a stallion that Lagardere supported with great success, is also the sire of G1 his winners Cherry Mix, Sagamix, Slickly and Vahorimix from him.
Mintly Fresh, a daughter of Rubiano, was stakes placed in a Listed race at Santa Anita and is also the dam of Manighar's full brother Minatlya, winner of the G3 Prix du Royaumont.
She has also produced a three-year-old filly by Manduro and a two-year-old colt by Dalakhani.
Manighar won six races in Europe for the Aga Khan including the G2 Prix Chaudenay when trained in France by Alain de Royer Dupre.
He raced for Australian interests when third in the Yorkshire Cup and fifth in the Melbourne Cup last year for Luca Cumani before he joined his current trainer Peter Moody.
