There are 6 runners in this 1800m classic on the AWT at Meydan tonight.
Godolphin have a strong hand in this with Al Zarooni training the two top fancies, Pimpernel at 11/10 in the UK, and Falls of Lora, having her first start since finishing 5th of 5 in the Marcel Boussac.
It should be a lot easier for all concerned now that Godolphin have decided to aim star filly Gamilati at the English 1000 Guineas. We are also interested i Moon Spun, who recently joined Herman Brown's stable from South Africa and had her first UAE run in the 1000 Guineas, where most of these runners appeared.
She should have benefited from that and has the benefit of a recent start which Falls of Lora does not.The Meydan Classic is a Listed race over the turf mile, with the Singapore-based Cash Luck being installed as 9/4 favourite in the UK where the bookies are now learning to keep all Singaporean runners safe. Entifaadah is a smart horse and won the Acomb Stakes last year in UK, with Richard Hills who will be retiring after DWC, having his usual ride for Sheik Hamdan.
There's a Spanish runner here Matulasen who won 4/4 at home by decent margins. Very difficult to line up here but one to watch.
News also that jockey Silvestre de Sousa is to join Godolphin on a full-time basis. He rode for Mark Johnston last year and had a very successful year, coming second in the jockeys' championship. Former Godlphin jockey Kerrin McEvoy will return to Dubai to ride Helmet and Sepoy.
