This year's edition was run at Kyoto on yielding ground, which is unusual in Japan.

Do Deuce was favourite and had been first pick in the vote for runners but either didn't like the ground or like the route that was taken by his jockey.  It was Blow The Horn who got the win after putting in a great finish and come away from the field leaving Sol Oriens second and Bellagio Opera third by a neck with Praderia another neck away in fourth which was a very tight photo for the minors.
