Best From The West - November 4

3 minute read

The Stephen Miller trained Variation was back as good as ever last start and appears more than capable of taking that next step at Ascot on Saturday.

Returning at Bunbury, Variation proved game with the big weight, finishing a close third behind Miki Two Toes.

A winner of seven of his 14 starts, Variation faces his stiffest test when due to line up in the Group 3 Asia Beau Stakes [1400m].

While on the surface it appears a big jump from Bm78+ company, the bare form has him right there and he has won four of five attempts at Ascot.

From the inside draw he looks to receive all the favours and has placed in four of five attempts over this trip.

Brad Parnham links back aboard, having placed in eight of nine attempts including his wins in the WA Guineas and Belmont Guineas.

As much as 5-1 is being offered about his chances which is a more than worthy gamble.

Certainly respect Cosmic Storm, however more than happy to be in Variation's corner.

The ever consistent Dainty Tess also presents good value when due to contest the Group 3 Prince Of Wales Stakes [1000m].

An ultra impressive winner first up, Dainty Tess went on to finish a close second behind the very talented State Solicitor.

The drop back to 1000m aids her chances and in 25 starts she has only missed the money on three occasions - she is sure to run very well.
