Floria broke a lengthy winning drought to land a deserved win in the Group 2 Brisbane Cup.
Floria enjoyed a lovely run in the race in fifth position one off the fence about six lengths from the leader Skysoblue, who ran the field along at a good pace.
The leader was joined by Mr O’Ceirin in the middle stages and those two put many lengths on the field. Floria was out and chasing from the 650m three wide. She cornered in the clear three wide taking the lead at the 300m, staying on gamely to score well.
Moriarty came from seventh in the run one of the fence following the winner. He appeared to be going better than the winner when they turned for home but he could not pick her up under his top weight of 59.5kg. A game effort in defeat.
Zephyron ran well to finish third. He raced in eighth position on the fence a long way off the leaders in the run. He travelled well into the race to be on the back of the first two home on turning for home. He switched out into the clear and stayed on at one pace to be a clear third.
