Burning Front wins 2017 Ts Carlyon Cup Group 3 $150,000 at Caulfield (VIC) 4yo+, 1600m.
Winner of this race a year ago, Burning Front scored an allthe-way win here. He was out best and went straight to the lead from barrier five. Jockey Brad Rawiller allowed the gelding to run along at a moderate tempo, cuddling him up until the last corner where he broke clear by two lengths. It was only inside the 200m that Rawiller gave him a reminder and another inside the 100m and he held on quite well to score.
Humidor was last, one off the fence at the 800m, began to pick them up near the last corner yet still last, then found a split at the 300m and ran on very well but too late to catch the winner.
Tally was a close up sixth approaching the last corner, was given a clear view at the 300m but could not accelerate and battled away into third.
Master Reset had a perfect run in behind the winner but was flat when the pressure went on, lasting for (3 lengths) fourth.
