The 2024 NFL Draft takes place in Detroit, Michigan this weekend – one of the biggest non-sporting betting events on the American sports calendar.
All 32 NFL Franchises will be attending to choose from this year's crop of rookie talents, with the Chicago Bears, via a trade with the Carolina Panthers, owning the first overall pick.
They will take quarterback Caleb Williams with the number one pick, who is a very short price of 1/100. Below we preview the first 10 selections of the NFL draft and potential betting angles for each pick.
1. Chicago Bears
This selection is a near certainty, Chicago traded incumbent quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the offseason and will select the USC talent Caleb Williams (1/00). Any other selection is priced at 17/1.
2. Washington Commanders
Washington are another team looking for a quarterback with the experts expecting either Jayden Daniels (10/33) or Drake Maye (3/1) to get selected. Outside shots include J.J McCarthy (10/1) or Bo Nix (150/1).
3. New England Patriots
It could be a QB 1-2-3 with the Patriots having traded incumbent Mac Jones and starting afresh with a new head coach in Jerod Mayo. Maye is the 5/9 favourite, with Daniels (3/1) and McCarthy (4/1).
4. Arizona Cardinals
Arizona will almost certainly avoid the QB position, giving them the choice of all other positions. Wide receiver Marvin Harrison (5/11) is an all-world talent and makes sense with the teams needs.
5. Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers are another team who require wide receiver help with Malik Nabers (9/4) and Marvin Harrison (13/5) the top two in the betting. Joe Alt (9/2) is an option at offensive tackle.
6. New York Giants
The New York Giants are another QB needy team, even though they have Daniel Jones on a big money contract. Malik Nabers (8/5) and Rome Odunze (5/2) are the favourties in the market, both wide receivers. Again Joe Alt (6/1) may make sense at offensive tackle.
7. Tennessee Titans
Offensive tackle Joe Alt (5/8) would be a smart choice for a team who need offensive line help. The Titans have a pair of project quarterbacks in Will Levis and Malik Willis – so adding offensive line talent could be key – Taliese Fuaga (9/1) and Olumuyiwa Fashanu (10/1) are other options.
8. Atlanta Falcons
Having signed Kirk Cousins at quarterback in the offseason, and boasting offensive talents such as Drake London, Kyle Pitts and Bijon Robinson, the Falcons could have their pick of the defensive talent here. Dallas Turner (9/4) and Laiatu Latu (9/4) are the pick of the edge rushers.
9. Chicago Bears
Having taken a quarterback with the first overall pick, there is a chance Chicago trade down to secure more draft capital and assets to help Caleb Williams. If they sit at nine, Rome Odunze (6/4) at wide receiver or Brock Bowers (14/1) at tight end could be in play.
10. New York Jets
With Aaron Rodgers set to return at quarterback, the Jets could aid him with a big-bodied tight end in Brock Bowers (6/4) or strengthen the offensive line with Taliese Fuaga (7/1), Troy Fautanu (15/2) or Olumuyiwa Fashanu (9/1).
