Canya All Class is one of Australia’s most exciting young greyhounds and will race for the first time since March in this Saturday’s heats of the Maturity at The Meadows.
His hiatus has been due to an achilles injury that also had him scratched from the Runway – a consolation final within the Launching Pad series.
"It's great to have him back. It's felt like a long road but everything has gone to plan, he was ready to go last week but having another week under his belt can only be a good thing," said trainer Jess Hopkins.
'Ralph' had his final hit out at The Meadows on Monday morning, he ran post-to-post (one lap) and set a time of 24.50 (12.77, 11.73) – Wow She's Fast holds the record at 24.27.
He's won six of his 10 starts and many of them in entertaining and powerful fashion.
His fastest time at The Meadows is 29.561 is the fourth fastest at the track this year – behind Group 1 winners Yachi Bale (29.502), Morton (29.533) and Hector Fawley (29.542).
Greyhounds born on or after January 1 2022 are eligible for the Maturity series. This Saturday's card will also feature heats of The Fireball for stayers.
Nominations close on Wednesday at 2pm with fields to be drawn not long after.
