Reece Jones has taken riding honours at Randwick with a four-timer.
Apprentice Reece Jones has had another memorable afternoon at Randwick with a quartet of winners, making the most of the exodus of Sydney's senior riders to Brisbane.
With the likes of James McDonald, Hugh Bowman, Kerrin McEvoy and Tim Clark all in action at the Stradbroke Handicap meeting, the junior brigade had a field day at Randwick on Saturday snaring seven of the 10 races between them.
Dylan Gibbons booted home an early double and notched his 100th victory of the season aboard two-year-old Wingardium, while Ellen Hennessy got on the board courtesy of unbeaten Richard Litt-trained filly Essone.
But it was Jones who stole the show, opening his account with a brace of wins aboard the John O'Shea-trained pair of Waihaha Falls and Comme Bella Fille and adding another on import Cliff's Art for Matthew Smith.
He put the icing on the cake in the final race courtesy of the John Thompson-trained Jojo Was A Man.
It was Jones' second four-timer in town after he achieved the same feat at the corresponding Randwick program 12 months ago.
"It's a great achievement," a chuffed Jones said.
"When I first did it, I thought 'gee I'm never going to be able to do this again,' so I'm really pleased to get on the right cattle today and put in a good performance for everyone."
Jojo Was A Man ($8.50) was well backed having scored a tough win on resumption at Canterbury last month before a sound fourth in Saturday grade last time out.
Jones thought the horse looked a treat pre-race and he ran up to his appearance, despite travelling wide in the run.
"I said today before I went out to John (Thomson), 'I hope he runs as good as he looks' and he did that exactly," Jones said.
While Gibbons began the day with a double, he ended it with a four-meeting careless riding suspension for causing interference aboard Zadig in the TAB Highway Handicap.
He will start his penalty on June 21 and can return on June 30, missing just one Saturday meeting.
