Dawn Approach wins 2015 Miss Andretti Stakes Listed $100,000 at Ascot (WA) 3yo+, 1200m.
Consistent four-year-old Dawn Approach made it three wins in succession and took his record to six wins and six placings from 17 starts in taking out this Listed race. He was quickly away and had little trouble in finding the lead. He then settled nicely, steading the pace (first 600m 35.20) before grabbing a break on straightening. He then went on to score comfortably by just over a length.
The favourite Cool Trade raced outside the leader and eventual winner to the home turn. She then fought on quite well in the straight for a second after seeming to have every chance.
Pininci raced in fourth place, moved up three wide rounding the home turn and kept battling on in the straight for third.
Second favourite, the top weight (59kg) Shining Knight raced in eighth place on the rails, improved between runners at the home turn and made ground to just miss the minor placing in a photo to finish (2 lengths) fourth, putting up a sound effort being unsuited by the sprint home tactics of the race.
