Warm favourite and winner on debut at Ruakaka, Tennessee, from her inside barrier, bounced out well and made the lead after just a few strides. Into the crossing she raced a little greenly, tossing her head about, but once straightened up settled down to her work. Past the 300m, she hugged the rails and was challenged by Dontpokethetiger but then fought back strongly to gain the upper hand just short of the post to win by three quarters of a length. She remains unbeaten in two starts.

Dontpokethetiger raced off the rails in behind the leaders until the turn then ranged up to the winner and may have gained a narrow lead but the winner fought back while Dontpokethetiger held on for second.

Fortaleza tracked Dontpokethetiger well into the straight and then moved out a width to try and get past, finishing quite well for third but no danger to the first two.

Hiphop raced handy throughout and held on well for fourth. Before the field straightened, Savasava clipped the heels of Fortaleza and lost his rider, Jonathan Parkes, who immediately got to his feet.

The Listed juvenile event over 1000m at Trentham saw the visiting filly Tennessee remain unbeaten and show leader speed plus fight when challenged to win by almost a length. She clocked 58.92 down the chute, which is notorious for posting bionic times, and is yet another by the sire of Per Incanto that is leaving a plethora of readymade youngsters. The race was marred after 300m when a green debutante in Fortaleza, bounded in the air for no reason and Savasava behind reacted badly then clipped heels and dislodged his rider. Dontpokethetiger, a South Island prepared filly, ran a brave second after being handy wide then a threatening second at the 200m. Fortaleza found the line well for third and looks to have good scope when she learns what the racing game is all about. Hiphop was an okay fourth while Fibonaci and Shezachoux wee not too bad in fifth and sixth respectively. The luckless run was Just You that copped a pole-axing when the rival Savasava lost his rider and ended up being tailed out across the junction to the home turn. The fact he kept coming down the outer to be beaten just under six lengths was meritorious as he lost almost that amount when checked. The winner Tennessee is very professional and has tactical speed so more in store for her this season with a main aim at this stage likely to be the Karaka Million early next year. The runner with the most upside is Fortaleza while the next time out name if not mentally scarred by the bad check has to be Just You.
