Alpen Rose lands Prix Miss Satamixa
The Henri-Alex Pantall-trained Alpen Rose (3 f ex Valais Girl by Holy Roman Emperor) added some valuable black-type to her CV as she broke through at stakes level in the Prix Miss Satamixa (Listed, 1500m) at Deauville on Saturday and in the process handed Sea The Stars (Cape Cross) with his 73rd winner at stakes level.
The three-year-old filly came out on top of a blanket finish to beat Quiet Times (Reliable Man) by head, while Animal Fever (Animal Kingdom) was another short-head away in third.
Purchased by his owners Godolphin for €750,000 at the 2018 Goffs Orby Yearling Sale from the Mount Coote Stud draft, the filly is out of winning Holy Roman Emperor (Danehill) mare Valais Girl.
Valais Girl herself is a half-sister to Group 3-placed Faslen (Fasliyev) - the dam of Listed-winning filly Don’t Be (Cape Cross).
Further back this is the same family as 1997 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m) winner Sleepytime (Royal Academy), who in turn produced Group 3-winning duo Gentleman’s Deal (Danehill) and Hathal (Speightstown) as well as Ry’s The Guy (Distorted Humor) and Dame Ellen (Elusive Quality).
Trainer Mark Johnston purchased a brother to Alpen Rose for £34,000 at this year’s Goffs Orby Yearling Sale and Sea The Stars will stand at Gilltown Stud for a fee of €150,000 in 2021.
