A new Grade One winner for Uncle Mo, a stakes double for Lord Kanaloa and new stakes winners for Toronado and Dubawi
Nine for Uncle Mo
Former Coolmore Australia shuttler Uncle Mo (Indian Charlie) sired his ninth Grade One winner when the Steve Asmussen-trained Yaupon (4 c ex Modification by Vindication) landed an eventful running of Saturday's Forego Stakes (Gr 1, 7f) at Saratoga. Starting the favourite, Yaupon went straight to the lead and battled it out down the straight with Firenze Fire (Poseidon’s Warrior) who then attempted to savage Yaupon. The son of Uncle Mo scored by a head from Firenze Fire, whose antics cost him the race, with Chance It two (Currency Swap) and a half lengths further back in third. The first and second are now likely to meet again in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (Gr 1, 6f) at Del Mar on November 6.
"That was kind of scary," said winning rider Ricardo Santana Jr. "That never happened to me before and the only thing I can think is 'Don't stop riding.'"
Yaupon is one of 73 stakes winners for Uncle Mo who stands at Coolmore’s Ashford Stud in Kentucky.

Double for Lord Kanaloa
The Shadai Stallion Station-based Lord Kanaloa (King Kamehameha) sired a stakes double on Sunday. Lei Halia (3 f ex Lightly Tune by Manhattan Cafe) won the Keeneland Cup (Gr 3, 1200m) at Sapporo), defeating Eighteen Girl (Johannesburg) by a head. A Listed winner previously, Lei Halia becomes her sires 19th Group winner.
At Niigata, the Yoshihito Kitade-trained Kaiser Minoru (5 h ex Strike Root by Smart Strike) won the Tokai Stakes (Listed, 1400m), scoring by a length from Ruggero (Kinshasa No Kiseki) to provide Lord Kanaloa with his 30th stakes winner.
King Kamehameha stood for a fee of Y15,000,000 in 2021. His progeny include his nine time Grade One winning daughter Almond Eye and his Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winning son Tagaloa who is standing his first season at stud this year at Yulong in Victoria where his fee is set at $33,000 (inc GST).
15 for Toronado
Swettenham Stud shuttler sired a new stakes winner on Sunday, taking his tally to 15, when the Richard Fahey-trained and Al Shaqab Racing homebred Toro Strike (4 c ex Scarlet Strike by Smart Strike) won the Supreme Stakes (Gr 3, 7f) at Goodwood. The four-year-old won easily by two lengths, defeating Double Or Bubble (Exceed And Excel). Toronado has sired two Group One winners to date in Tribhuvan and Masked Crusader and is standing his seventh season in Australia this year for a career high fee of $49,500 (inc GST) having covered 210 mares at a fee of $27,500 (inc GST) in 2020.

211 for Dubawi
Aga Khan homebred Dilawar (4 g ex Dolniya by Azamour) provided Darley’s Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) with his 211th stakes winner when the Alan de Royer-Dupre-trained gelding showed a good turn of foot to win the Prix Quincey (Gr 3, 1600m) at Deauville. Now We Know (Kendargent) was beaten two and a half lengths for second, with another half lengths back to National Service (Elusive City) in third. Dilawar is the first foal out of Group One winner Dolniya, who won the 2015 Dubai Sheema Classic (Gr 1, 2400m), and he has now won four of his five starts.
