More Than Ready, Heart's Cry and Stay Gold sire new stakes winners
214 for More Than Ready
Former Vinery shuttler More Than Ready (Southern Halo) recorded his 214th stakes winner on Sunday when More Than Exceed (6 g ex Exceedingly Regal by Exceed And Excel) won the Thomas Lyons Stakes (Listed, 1400m) at Hobart.
Trained by Phillip Stokes, More Than Exceed was a $260,000 purchase by his trainer at the 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale when offered by Newgate Farm as agent. With Sunday's victory he took his race record to nine wins and eight placings in 36 starts.
"This is a great result because we originally had this horse coming here as a travelling companion for our stayer (Daquiansweet Junior) for the cup but when we decided not to bring him, we proceeded with plans to bring this horse," said Stokes' travelling foreman Michael Harrison.

56 for Heart's Cry
Heart's Cry (Sunday Silence) sired is 56th stakes winner on Sunday when Danon Beluga (3 c ex Coasted by Tizway) ran on impressively in the closing stages of the Kyodo News Hai (Tokionminoru Kinen) (Gr 3, 1800m) at Tokyo. The colt, who was recording his second career victory from as many starts, beat favourite Geoglyph (Drefong) by a length and a half. He is the first winner for his Listed winning and Grade One placed dam Coasted (Tizway), who was bought by Katsumi Yoshida for US$1.3 million at the 2017 Fasig-Tipton November Mixed Sale.
Danon Beluga meanwhile was bought by Danox Company Ltd for Y160 million at the 2019 JRA Select Foal Sale.
Heart's Cry was pensioned last year. His stakes winners are headed by 11 Group / Grade One winners.

56 for Stay Gold
Stay Gold also recorded his 56th stakes winner on Sunday when the Godolphin-raced African Gold (7 g ex Blixen by Gone West) pulled away in the straight to win the Kyoto Kinen (Gr 2, 2200m) at Hanshin. Bred by Darley Japan, African Gold defeated Tagano Diamante (Orfevre) by a length and a quarter, becoming his sires 12th Group / Grade Two scorer.
African Gold is a half-brother to Godolphin's Dubai World Cup (Gr 1, 2000m) winner African Story (Pivotal).
Stay Gold died in 2015 at the age of 21.
