The BJ McLachlan Stakes is a Group 3 race for two year old sprinters conducted by the Brisbane Racing Club at Eagle Farm.

The BJ McLachlan Stakes is run over 1200m under Set Weights conditions. It has been run under varying names including the Tommy Smith Slipper but has been the BJ McLachlan Stakes since 2009.

The BJ McLachlan Stakes was first run in 1983 and was won by Crawford.

The race is named after a champion Queensland trainer who won many races including a Golden Slipper with Phelan Ready.

It became a G3 race from 2011. Was run at Gold Coast in 2014/2015.

Many top juveniles and future good 3yos including several Magic Millions winners have taken it out.

King's Legacy won in 2019 and at the end of his 2yo season won the G1 ATC Sires and G1 Champagne Stakes.

It is run over 1200m for $300,000 in prizemoney in 2024.

The 2024 BJ McLachlan Stakes was won by Icarian Dream from Cool Archie and The Playwright.
