Super Rugby: Aussie trio ready for bumper Saturday

3 minute read

With four games taking place, three involving Australian teams, there’s plenty of action to take in from Super Rugby Pacific on Saturday.

The Reds and Western Force face tough trips across the Tasman to face Kiwi opposition, while the Brumbies will be in the home comforts of the capital, as they prepare to host Fijian Drua.

Reds can cause Crusaders problems

. What: Crusaders v Reds
. Where: Apollo Projects Stadium, Christchurch
. When: 14:35 (AEST), Saturday 4th May 2024
. How to watch: Stan Sport
. Odds: Crusaders 1.25, Reds 4.00

Having thrashed the Highlanders 31-0, before a 41-34 defeat to the Blues, the Reds are preparing for their third consecutive game against Kiwi opposition this weekend.

This time it's a trip to Christchurch for head coach Les Kiss and his side, as they take on a Crusaders side that have been well below par this season.

Winning just two of their nine games so far this year, the Crusaders did look like their former selves with a 39-0 win over the Rebels last time out.

The Reds will provide a much sterner test and are 1.91 with +9.5 in the Line market.

A long evening in store for Force

. What: Chiefs v Force
. Where: FMG Stadium Waikato, Hamilton
. When: 17:05 (AEST), Saturday 4th May 2024
. How to watch: Stan Sport
. Odds: Chiefs 1.02, Force 13.00

Facing last season's runners-up in the Chiefs on their own patch in Hamilton will be one of the Force's toughest tests of the campaign so far.

The Force have managed just two wins from their nine games of the campaign and face a Chiefs side that will be competing for a return to the grand final this season.

It's clear from the result market the test that awaits the Perth outfit, with the Force at 13.00 to cause a major upset at FMG Stadium Waikato.

The Chiefs look capable of putting on a big score in this one and are 1.91 with -24.5 in the Line market.

Brumbies leading Aussie charge

. What: Brumbies v Fijian Drua
. Where: GIO Stadium, Canberra
. When: 19:35 (AEST), Saturday 4th May 2024
. How to watch: Stan Sport
. Odds: Brumbies 1.11, Fijian Drua 6.50

With seven wins in their first nine games, the Brumbies are leading the way for the Australian teams this season and they should strengthen their place in the top four on the ladder with victory over Fijian Drua.

Drua have been strong on their own patch but on the road they have struggled, with a 41-20 defeat at the Melbourne Rebels in their last away game a prime example.

The Brumbies will be full of confidence after inflicting the first defeat of the season on the Hurricanes last time out and are 1.91 to fall on the right side of -15.5 in the Line market for this one.

In the Anytime tryscorer market, Andy Muirhead and Ollie Sapsford are both available at 1.66 to score the opening try of what could be a one-sided contest in Canberra.
