Mariners aim to complete a treble

The Mariners booked their place in the grand final with a hard-fought semi-final win over Sydney FC.

Leading 2-1 from the first leg at Allianz Stadium, the Mariners held Sydney to a goalless draw back at Industree Group Stadium.

That was enough to get the job done on aggregate and the reigning A-League champions are the hot fancies to go on and add another championship to the trophy cabinet.

Central Coast are also going in search of an historic treble, having already won the minor premiership and AFC Cup this season.

The Mariners smashed Melbourne City 5-1 to win last season's grand final and will be out to do the same to Victory on Friday night.

Victory step up in finals

Melbourne Victory had not won in three games heading into finals and not many would have given them a chance of going all the way.

However, they have stepped up to the plate when edging past Melbourne City in the Elimination Final and then the Phoenix in the semi-final.

After being held to a 0-0 draw at AAMI Park, Victory then travelled to Wellington and picked up a surprise 2-1 victory in dramatic circumstances.

Chris Ikonomidis scored the winning goal in extra-time and they will be out to cause another upset in the Grand Final.

Mariners on home soil

The Mariners will have the advantage of playing the Grand Final on home soil at Industree Group Stadium on the Central Coast.

The clash will take place on Friday 24th May, with a kick-off time of 18:00 (AEST).

Head-to-heads

Central Coast Mariners and Melbourne Victory have played each other on 52 occasions and it is Victory who have dominated over the years.

Victory have won 25 games, the Mariners 11, while there have been 16 draws.

They met on three occasions during the 2023/24 regular season, with the Mariners winning one, while the other two games finished in draws.

Central Coast won 1-0 at AAMI Park in February, while there were 1-1 and 2-2 draws at Industree Group Stadium.

Over 2.5 goals in the Grand Final can be backed at 1.90, while both teams to score is available at 1.75.
