Cointreau to resume with victory

The penultimate race at Canterbury is a competitive looking 1250m Benchmark 72 handicap.

A soft 5 track is expected for the race, with Bunker Hut expected to prove popular with punters following two good efforts on the Kensington track at Randwick.

The first of those saw the gelding lose out by less than half-a-length in a 1400m Benchmark 72 handicap last month.

The four-year-old appeared to find the step up to a Benchmark 78 event no issue when third on a heavy 9 surface over the same distance on 15th May.

However, LITTLE COINTREAU is the pick here, having demonstrated good form in his last prep including when breaking his maiden over 1300m on a good 4 track at Hawkesbury first up.

The 4.80 gelding followed that effort up with a Class 1 success when racing over 1350m on a good 4 surface at Wyong subsequently.

Joseph Pride's gelding usually races from mid-division and he was spelled following a narrow defeat when runner-up over 1400m at Warwick Farm in January.

The son of Contributer has had two barrier trials in recent weeks, taking a step forward when fifth over 815m on a soft 6 track at Warwick Farm on 21st May.

That trial should have put the gelding spot on for his return to action and, having won first up last prep, he can repeat that with a win from barrier eight.

Worcester to salute at Sale

Sale stages an eight-race program, with the sixth race of the day a Benchmark 64 handicap set to take place on a soft 5 surface.

All So Clear is expected to jump as favourite, having registered second-place finishes at Ballarat on his two most recent starts.

Both of those efforts came over 1600m including when racing at this Benchmark 64 level on a soft 6 track earlier this month.

The five-year-old won twice at Ballarat last prep and, while he has run well here in the past, it's of note that his best efforts have come at that venue.

The gelding looks opposable in this field, with WORCESTER selected to put a disappointing Cranbourne effort behind him.

The 7.00 selection was tackling 2025m for the first time when beaten over 10 lengths into sixth in a Benchmark 64 handicap at Cranbourne.

The drop back in distance is in his favour here, having delivered a good second when racing over 1600m in a Restricted 64 handicap at Pakenham on his penultimate start.

The gelding was making his first start against winners when beaten less than a length that day and he is taken to record his second victory, having won over 1600m at Bendigo three starts back.

Kelly to take Belmont finale

They are set to race on a soft 5 track at Belmont with the finale a 1650m Class 3 handicap event.

Holly Taylor saddles KISSES FROM KELLY here, with the gelding having demonstrated winning form over this course and distance in the past when successful in August last year.

The selection won a Class 1 handicap on a good 4 track that day and had demonstrated that he handles wet tracks when third on a heavy 8 surface here on her previous start.

While unable to win since, the 4.80 four-year-old has placed a number of times and returned from a spell with a good fourth over 1400m at Ascot earlier this month.

The gelding is expected to have improved for that effort and, with a good barrier, he looks capable of saluting under Chris Parnham.
