Derozario for Sandown success

Sandown Lakeside are due to host an eight-race program with the fifth race on the card a 2100m Benchmark 70 handicap for fillies and mares.

Blake Shinn takes the ride on Rule Of Time and they are expected to prove popular with the filly having resumed with a win at the end of March.

The four-year-old came home half-a-length clear of her rivals when contesting a 1200m Restricted 64 handicap at Warracknabeal that day and she has performed well since.

The filly came home fifth over 1400m on a soft 6 track at Pakenham following that effort, prior to a close third over 1800m on the Hillside course here last time.

That latest effort came in a Benchmark 64 handicap held on a good 4 surface and she is of note stepping up in distance.

The runner-up in that latest effort was DEROZARIO and she is taken to confirm that form, having raced close to the speed in that contest.

Michael Kent's filly was stepping out of maiden company for the first time, having broken her maiden by a narrow margin in a 2025m event at Cranbourne on 19th April.

The selection won on a soft 6 track at Cranbourne and any softening of the going between now and race time would be no issue.

The daughter of Time Test should have no issues with the step up to 2100m she gets here and she looks capable of returning to winning ways with Damian Lane set to ride.

Loco for Warwick Farm glory

The finale at Warwick Farm is a 1600m Benchmark 72 handicap set to take place on a heavy 9 track.

John O'Shea saddles Inquiring Minds here and he is expected to have his supporters, having demonstrated good form in two starts since transferring from Europe.

The first of those saw him lose out by a narrow margin when racing over 1500m in a Benchmark 64 handicap at Kembla Grange in April.

The four-year-old overcame losing a plate when winning narrowly stepped up to this Benchmark 72 level for a track and trip handicap on 22nd May.

Top weight LOCO is the pick in this event however, having performed well at a higher level in 2023.

While the gelding started out racing over this distance, he was stepped up in trip to lose out narrowly when second in the 2000m Group 3 Chairman's Stakes at Morphettville.

That effort came in April last year and he followed that up with a fourth, having raced from off the pace in the G1 South Australian Derby over 2500m at the same venue.

The four-year-old was off for just over a year prior to resuming with a seventh in a 1600m Benchmark 70 handicap on the Hillside track at Sandown on 15th May.

The son of So You Think is expected to have improved for that Sandown effort and he is taken to register a second up success on his first outing on a heavy surface.

Archie to salute at Belmont

The fifth race at Belmont is an interesting 1400m Class 1 handicap with the Chris Stelmach-trained HE'S ARCHIE taking the eye.

The four-year-old has placed second in three of his last five starts, including when beaten half-a-length at $21 in a 1400m Class 1 handicap here on 29th May.

The pick raced on a heavy 8 track that day and is again set to tackle a wet surface, as he seeks his second win of the year having broken his maiden at Bunbury in February.

The gelding has a fair barrier in eight for this event and is fairly versatile tactics wise, having gone well from off pace and when racing behind the speed.

William Pike is a notable jockey booking here and he looks capable of steering the son of Galah to victory.
