The 2016 New Zealand Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Fanatic, who has been racing consistently in Victoria this season for the Lindsay Park stable, scored a solid staying performance in taking out this Group Two feature. She travelled nicely back in eighth place on the rails, behind a steady pace, before Michael Walker steered her along the inner nearing the home turn as the tempo increased. She then got right through to take the lead on straightening and dug deep when challenged to will well. It was also a very good ride by Michael Walker. The Darren Weir-trained Ormito raced in sixth place on the rails, eased deeper rounding the home turn, challenged strongly at the 200m and fought well for a good second, just finding the winner (whom conceded him 4.5kg too good). His Darren Weir stablemate Poppiholla was well back and near last in the 15-horse field before making a wide move approaching the home turn. She then came with a strong late run under her limit weight (53kg) to finish third in a good staying effort.
