Ken Keys-trained mare Spanish Reef is racing in the best form of her career, now winning all three starts this preparation, capped by taking out this Group Two race in impressive style. After a fast beginning, she settled nicely for Mark Zahra outside the leader (Life On The Wire) at quite a good tempo. She then dashed to the front rounding the home turn and drew away to score impressively. Samovare raced in sixth place, one off the rails, improved nicely (wide) nearing the home turn, got to second at the 100m and battled on to hold that position without looking likely to trouble the winner. Flying Jess settled in last place in the seven-horse field, made a wide move approaching the home turn and fought on well to take the minor placing in a photo.
