Quality Mick Price-trained filly Seabrook, winner of the Sweet Embrace Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) at Randwick on 3 March at her first start in Sydney, stepped up three runs later to take out this Group One race, advancing to 1600m here, She was eased from her wide barrier (12) and raced in second last place in the 13-horse field before Damien Oliver steered her along the inner at the home turn, going to third at the 200m. She then ran on strongly, hit the front at the 50m and went on to win well. Bondi had a nice trip in third place on the rails from his good barrier (2), challenged on turning for home, took the lead nearing the 100m, only to be caught in the closing stages for (half-length) second. Surprise ATC Sires' Produce Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) winner El Dorado Dreaming was tenth on the rails, looked for clear running on straightening but was blocked until the 200m and then ran on really well for third, looking unlucky. The Jean Dubois-trained colt Guerrier, a winner of his only start in a 2YO maiden (1300m) at Hawkesbury on 5 April, had a good trip from his inside barrier (1) in sixth place on the rails, went to fourth at the 200m and battled on well to hold that position, beaten just under two lengths, in a smart effort at only his second race start. The favourite Outrageous eighth on the rails, was blocked on straightening before running on quite well over the latter stages for (2.8 lengths) fifth.
